Cherry orchard tidy up
It is sad to see all these ancient cherry trees going up in smoke, a cremation of sorts. I comfort myself in the knowledge that they are making way for new trees that will almost certainly outlive me.

Over the winter I watched a squirrel bury Cobnuts in our garden. Last night she came back to collect! I do wonder how on earth she knows where she buried them? Does she remember, or can she smell them? However you do it, I salute you and trust you enjoy …
The cobnut buds look quite dry and shrivelled right now, unsurprising considering how little rainfall we’ve had this spring. Is it going to affect the crop?…
I still feel like staying indoors, snuggled up by the fire, but the cobnut trees are already showing signs that they are getting ready for spring.
